Daisy & Daniel Pegasus

Meet 'Daisy & Daniel Pegasus', Both Daisy and baby Daniel, who was only just a few days old, were destined for the abbatoir in March 2016. I must admit I was unaware until recently that these gorgeous creatures still get slaughtered for their meat and often end up in Salami sausages or dog food - thankfully The Pegausus Sanctuary were able to raise enough funds to save these 2 lovely beings from such a fate.

Daisy was able to raise her little Daniel in the safety of the sanctuary and they were adopted together along with Daniel's best friend 'Thomas' in November 2018 – The sanctuary were so delighted that they all found a new home for them together, as donkeys form very close bonds especially with their young. They are all now living not far from the sanctuary along with another female donkey previously adopted from them who has since made great friends with Daisy. They all get to enjoy a totally pampered life with a lovely family who still keep in touch and regularly visit and continue to support the sanctuary....a lovely happy ending to what could have so easily have been a very sad story for a beautiful Mummy and her baby son.

I will be donating 10% of all net profits on any of my paintings or products featuring horses and donkeys directly to The Pegasus Sanctuary, to help them in their endless quest to save, care for, love and give these beautiful creatures a life they deserve.

A little about The Pegasus Sanctuary:

The Pegasus Sanctuary is based in Normandy – an amazing small charity that started with a kind heart, a bit of land and the pension of one lady, Felicity. The sanctuary rescues and re homes horses and donkeys, most of whom were destined for a long and gruelling journey to the slaughterhouses in Italy – others from cases of cruelty and neglect – others from going to the bullfighting rings in Spain.

Felicity has been rescuing these wonderful souls for over 10 years and set up the charity in 2016. She has rescued hundreds of horses and donkeys and has currently has around 50 residents – all have been rescued and most are looking for their forever homes and are available for adoption. Running the sanctuary single-handedly with just a handful of volunteers, Felicity relies on her pension and any donations she is able to raise.

If you can help in any way, with a donation, re homing, volunteering, spreading the word or would simply like to know more about this amazing little charity who work tirelessly to help these wonderful creatures.

Please visit either their website or their Facebook page.

The Pegasus Sanctuary are a registered charity in France, Association Loi de 1901, their registered number (R.N.A) is W504003253.
