'Derrick Pegasus' Original Artwork

This is an original contemporary and impressionist style pastel painting measuring 13" x 11" inches created in pastels on archival quality sanded paper. Your painting is a totally original piece of artwork created by me and is hand signed on both the front and back of the painting. 

INSPIRATION

Meet 'Derrick Pegasus', a wonderful donkey full of character and life – rescued from a rubbish dump where he spent his life on a chain, he is now thankfully enjoying his days as a long term resident of The Pegasus Sanctuary here in France.

Derrick is a real personality, now an old boy in his late 20's, but this doesn't stop him from making much mischief at the sanctuary – he loves a full tummy and one of his favourite activities is trying to break into the feed room - he has got so good that they have had to put an extra bolt on the door that he can't reach – one on the inside too as he likes to gate crash when someone is in there preparing the food! - this cheeky chap has become a bit of a mascot, keeping everyone on their toes :)

I will be donating 10% of all net profits on any of my paintings or products featuring horses and donkeys directly to The Pegasus Sanctuary to help them in their endless quest to help these beautiful creatures.

A little about The Pegasus Sanctuary:

The Pegasus Sanctuary is based in Normandy France – an amazing small charity that started with a kind heart, a bit of land and the pension of one lady, Felicity. The sanctuary rescues and re homes horses and donkeys, most of whom were destined for a long and gruelling journey to the slaughterhouses in Italy – others from cases of cruelty and neglect – others from going to the bullfighting rings in Spain.

Felicity has been rescuing these wonderful souls for over 10 years and set up the charity in 2016. She has rescued hundreds of horses and donkeys and has currently has over 50 residents – running the sanctuary single-handedly with just a handful of volunteers, relying on her pension and any donations she is able to raise.
